Report damage for Renters
When you return an owner’s car with new damage, the owner or RentMyRide has the right to directly contact you to ask for clarification on the damage. RentMyRide has the right to have the car repaired at any reputable repairer through Fixico.
To claim from 3rd party or our claims fund an additional minimum excess amount of R3500 (read more, here) & (Deposit dependent) is payable. This means that for all the damages below your deposit will not be covered by our claims fund, the renter has to pay for these damages. To be eligible to be covered for damages bigger than their deposit, the renter must make a police report and send this on the day of the incident to email@example.com pay the excess amount linked to your deposit and then everything more than your deposit up to R150 000 will be covered by our claims fund.
Please note that our claims fund covers one incident per vehicle, after which a new deposit is payable, any other damages unrelated to the incident are still for the renters account and if not paid subject to collection per our terms.
RentMyRide (Pty) Ltd maintains the right to use your deposit for the claims fee or to cover for damage that is not being insured by our insurance. If the renter’s deposit is lower then the excess fee or lower than the amount to cover for the damage the renter is obliged to pay the outstanding fee. RentMyRide (Pty) Ltd maintains the right to charge an additional admin fee of R500 for damage claims or an additional admin fee of R250 for damages lower than your deposit (for more information about fees, click here).
Ultimately as a renter you are responsible for the well being of the car and should take every precaution to return the car in the same condition as received and in accordance with our terms
